Alien Stories Print "Sprinkle Bombs"!

Alien Print Sprinkle Bombs are so much fun! When I made this series, my intention was to have one sitting on my counter that looked like a little flower popping up off the surface.

I got even crazier with these when I started making some with my alien stories patterns! Have fun and sprinkle bomb your food! I send these with a little pack of starter-sprinkles. See pictures for important use drawings and a secret dissection to show you how they work like magic!

5"x4" together, sprinkle bombs are about 3"x3.5" tall - each vary slightly in size. Porcelain, carved textures, inlay, sgraffito, underglazes, glaze.

Background: For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated by UFO, alien, and similar conspiracy theories. My 5th grade term paper was all about whether UFO's are real and included sending away for redacted secret files from the US government. I kept that paper in its full-glory dot-matrix print for many years and scanned it recently to preserve it! I love Giorgio Tsoukalos and the real space dreams of Elon Musk. I once dreamed that I would fly into space as an astronaut. In late February and early March 2020, this fictitious narrative returned to my head around aliens and why they would visit earth ironically just before the Pentagon released some fuzzy documented "unidentified aerial phenomena" for the record. Through overt and subtle earthly challenge themes, this is their evolving story - on pots...
The aliens have been visiting earth for eons. More frequently as time has passed and particularly as the Earth's CO2 has become increasingly abundant. This abundance led the alien first migrators to find a way to compress and store some CO2 in fifty-five gallon drums. These drums are camouflaged in areas across the planet where humans don't frequent often; places like old army depots, defunct nuclear silos, toxic waste dumps, and general neighborhood landfills. The aliens began to quickly advertise the abundance of their life providing gas on Earth through the use of large 1970's style billboards with flashing lights that are only activated by a special black-light type wavelength light that the alien ships have been retrofitted with. Any humans driving past or near a CO2 availability region would be none-the-wiser as the billboards they see just appear like modern placards with the alien advertising viewable only under the dark of night with this special wavelength of light only their ships use.
The alien ships are silent. Those who do visit a replenishment station on the planet during the day are cloaked and invisible to human eyes. Except for some. The aliens really love earth and mean it no harm. They recognize that their efforts to utilize an abundant natural and unnatural resource this planet has to offer actually provides a symbiotically positive relationship with the humans of earth. The more CO2 migrating aliens consume the less harmful greenhouse gases in the Earth's atmosphere - a win-win.
The aliens who have made contact with some humans have found themselves attracted to some typical things of Earth - items like novelty t-shirts, throwing peace-signs, and for the green aliens, capitalism. The green aliens (who wear flamboyant bow ties) strive to take over some of these stations on Earth and charge for the technology used to compress and store as well as the marketing and covert operation costs of this secret effort. So far the blue aliens do not mind because the green aliens are not price gouging. Spotting the green aliens is still a rarity as they identify their place in this developing social hierarchy. They have some of their favorite hang-outs on the planet, and the green aliens keep trying to use marketing tactics to popularize their monopoly's on this free resource to gain more followers. They hire aliens to pull special banners in the sky with their spaceships, and give out novelty hook-up tubes amongst other tactics.
The aliens love Elon Musk and all things regarding human attempts at joining them amongst the stars and planets. They hold CO2 parties where they hook their helmet tubes up simultaneously to the same tank, sitting out under the trees at night when Earth trees off-gas a bit more CO2 in hopes they can take their helmets off entirely on this beautiful planet. They love Earth and Earth Day rallies, learning new skills (like pottery), novelty and silly t-shirts that require you to see more than one alien to get the humor. They have begun to build colorful alien temple getaways in bright hidden colors - again requiring special light to see them. They dream of hugging humans.
When Covid-19 distracted the humans of the planet, all attempts to gain traction with the alien's "hug-a-human" campaign efforts were thwarted. Green aliens started giving away free CO2 with cat balloons in order to re-focus efforts necessary for their survival - breathing CO2. The cat-balloon marketing campaign efforts were then also thwarted when the aliens shared through social-media that they could "gain feelings of euphoria" if they breathed in some Covid-19 virus. Aliens everywhere made attempts to get the Covid-19 virus into their helmets - some not realizing they were trying to poke their eyes with their helmet still on.
Their story evolves daily along with the humans, and we are never quite certain right now when they will ever hug a human. They realize how desperate the human race is currently for hugs. Knowing their ingenuity, they will find a way!

Made to order, drop-ship, and print-on-demand products listed on this website each may have longer than expected delivery timelines. Please see all information about the product to understand the shipping timeframe. In some cases, items on this site will be shipped directly to you from a producer of that item vs. directly from Amy Lee's studio. I partner with other artisans and producers to allow this website to flourish in addition to spending time making new fun small-batch items in my studio!

This item is one-of-a-kind. My one-of-a-kind work is called 'Heirloom' because somewhere deep inside me it is my hope that you will pass this along through the generations for others to enjoy its unique nature. I also call items 'Heirloom' when I've spent more hours decorating a piece than I could ever truly recover by charging a premium for it. It's part of the process I love. It's part of what makes the medium ever-changing for me. It's part of the challenge of what new creativity might be drawn out and onto my work.

My handmade pottery items are made individually when I "throw" clay on the potter's wheel to shape the basic form. Sometimes I literally throw it onto the wheel head to get it to stick well, but the process in-general is called "throwing". They are turned over, re-centered, and trimmed when the clay has been allowed to dry slightly. Sometimes I also start with slabs of clay that are then hand-built into their shapes vs. on the wheel. Handles and other clay additions are then added and the piece is allowed to dry very slowly to prevent warping or cracking. When the piece is completely bone dry it is fired in a kiln (think big clay oven) to a temperature of just over 1800 degrees F. After this first firing, the piece is then decorated with glazes that a much like a slurry of powdered glass in water and often do not look anything like their finished colors. When the glaze is dry, each piece is carefully loaded back into the kiln to be fired again to a temperature over 2200 degrees F. This work is considered "mid-range" temperature pottery fired to Cone 6-7 upon completion.

These items are one-of-a-kind, handmade items and should be hand-washed or top-rack dishwasher washed. They are microwave friendly; however care must be used to ensure you do not overheat them or expose to thermal shock conditions.
